Handwriting Support for Children

Occupational therapy can support the motor and visual-motor skills that help children write with comfort, control, and confidence.

Schedule an Evaluation

"In addition to the improvement in his handwriting, I have watched my son gain more confidence when it comes to handwriting."

-Kidvancement Parent

When Writing Feels Challenging

Some children benefit from additional support with:

  • Letter formation, sizing, and spacing

  • Switching between uppercase and lowercase letters

  • Writing endurance and efficiency

  • Confidence during writing tasks

Writing differences are often connected to underlying motor, visual-motor, or postural skills—not effort or motivation.

How Occupational Therapy Supports Writing

Handwriting therapy at Kidvancement focuses on building the skills that support functional writing, including:

  • Fine motor strength and coordination

  • Visual-motor integration

  • Grasp, posture, and endurance

  • Practicing writing skills in engaging, meaningful ways

Sessions are individualized, play-based, and designed to support writing across everyday activities.

“He went from not being able to space his writing and letters being either all capital, to properly spacing and working on proper letter format. My son showed big improvements within a month of therapy.”

-Kidvancement Parent
